The Genealogy and Local History Section of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, and the St. Thomas-St. John Library Association, look forward to welcoming you to the island of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands for a Satellite Conference to be held 10-12 August 2011.
Speaker/Panel sessions, study tours and receptions will focus on aspects of the theme "The Information Diaspora: Innovating research and records custodianship for family history users" and include a great line-up of presenters and topics in one of the Caribbean's most beautiful destinations.
Speakers include:
- Drs. Nolda Romer-Kenepa, National Archivist of the Curacao National Archives and CITRA Vice President for the International Council on Archives (ICA)
- International Project Archivist Melanie Clifton Harvey who will speak on her recent experiences working on the British Library's Endangered Archives Project in the Turks and Caicos
- Danish National Archives Archival Consultant and Historian Poul Olsen
- George F. Tyson, President of the Virgin Islands Social History Associates and Project Manager for the St. Croix African Roots Project
- Dominique Taffin, Archvist of the Archives Departementales de la Martinique and President of the Caribbean Regional Association of the ICA (CARBICA) (or her CARBICA designee) who will introduce the CARBICA Memory of the Islands: Gateway to Archival Networking (MIGAN) Project
- Gayle Williams, Latin American and Caribbean Services Librarian and Co-Director of the Digital Library of the Caribbean (DLOC) at Florida International University
- Ross Harvey, Visiting Professor at GSLIS Simmons College, and expert on digital curation
- Asbjorn Hellum, National Archivist, Rigsarkivet (Danish National Archives)
