NLW 2010 is kicked-off with a blast!

Today is the first 'official' day of National Library Week (NLW) 2010, but celebration in St. Thomas, U.S Virgin Islands gets off to an early and exciting start! The 5th annual Read on the Green Community Day was held on UVI's golf course yesterday (April 10th), in conjunction with the first Human Library in the territory--hosted by yours truly.

Weather was good and the turnout was even better as the community came out to "get caught reading". Curiosity brought a number of people to the Club House on the golf course to read some 'human books', as well. Verbal feedback was very positive and STSJLA already received requests to host another Human Library! If you missed it, here's a recap by the St. Thomas Source.

Thanks to the entire community for supporting the efforts of local librarians, and to the volunteers who made it happen yesterday. This was a great example of how Communities Thrive @Your Library . Enjoy the rest of National Library Week!!

Prayers for Haiti

STSJLA stands with the rest of the world in shock and prayer at the aftermath of the earthquake that shook Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince. We encourage you to do whatever you can to to help the survivors. We can all make a greater impact than the earthquake by donating to rebuild Haiti.
